With thanks to Hirst for the watermarking and a bit of tidying up, here’s this week’s brochure:
Hadn’t seen much mention of Suzuki on here and this one was right at the front of a box, so why not? Interesting little car, well-served by a good club (we enjoyed their company at Billing last year as they still came despite the official event being cancelled). Rarely seen outside of the club though, they don’t seem to be the kind of car that somebody just owns or buys by chance, nowadays anyway.
Did many other countries in Europe get them? Wonder what other export markets they reached.
This brochure was a very early addition to my collection, it’s dated 1979 and my dad must have picked it up at the Ipswich dealers as it pre-dates my time scrounging them at shows etc. Golf Garage did Suzuki for many years, I think the building is still there but I can’t find any trace of them on Google.
Interesting registration on the stationary Fiat.
So, more memories, stories or images? Paintshopped versions welcome too!
Hopefully we’ll get one or two people with these here, we ought to let their club know of our existence (particularly as they were keen to keep something going at Billing).
Nice. There's almost always one or two for sale over here, I think they were sold from 1978/9. I love the early ones (they look mousy) with the 2-stroke engine I think. Quite a few brochures here under 'Folders' (I cut the piccie below this out of one of them).
I always fancied one of these, just couldn't ever justify getting one There's a crazy one being built in N. Ireland at the moment. Forget the guy's name but its twice as long as standard.
I got to have a ride round in it, it's a mad machine! The engineering and finish of it is very impressive, I reckon it needs to be more extreme looking like a Silhouette car though, with some hugely dished wheels! He did say it isn't finished yet though, so wait and see I guess.
That ones an amazingly well engineeered car by the look of it but I can't help but think a touch more power under the bonnet would be better. That and some group 5 style rims as you say. And maybe a few inches out of the ride height!
I've had one of these, they are class. Mine kept burning its points though, invariably while wor lass was out and about in it. A ridiculous fault. Eventually the gearbox bust, I started to repair it but never finished it. It got weighed eventually.
Hi All My First Car was a SC100, in black, all those years ago. Great little car, bought it for £850 & sold it for £900 3 yrs later. went all over the place in it. Had to give her up when I bought my Nissan Silvia Turbo S12. which I still have today.
I wonder if she is still about, XFF on a W was the start of reg. Daz
