we've inherited a 1984 nissan laurel c32 from my father-in-law who died these year. its very beaten-up and needs major restoration. at first we wanted to test the cars capability, durability and stability but finally decided to have the body repaired when the clutch pedal fell while i was driving. i leaned underneath and found out that the wall and sill under the windshield was eaten by rust.
what i need the most are advises from ojc experts. please feel free to post your feedback .
i dont know what part of the car it is (help please) all i know is it is where the clutch pedal was bolted. i was driving then the clutch pedal fell. i leaned and found out that there was nothing holding it but rust.
Hi this model was sold as the Nissan 3000v in Australia.
thanks for the info dude. i'm not sure if it was ever sold here in the Philippines. paperwork said that it was imported from Japan and maybe converted from right-hand drive to left-hand before it was registered here.
davehoos - nah the dash is an oem. and the conversion was sweet, i guess. im still wondering if its really right hand drive, its contradicting since the dash is original but there are few holes on the firewall which was suspected to be of the right hand. never knew it was a taxi before. it was been with us since '85 and my dad in law loved it too much he never let anyone touch/repair it until he passed away this year. here's an updated photo of the dash.
i hate to see that thick putty on the butt, but the good thing is this slab is only 50% of what was there before. after paint and an inch thick of putty was stripped down we discovered that the butt was heavily battered.
left-hand portion was now leveled. happy to see the body lines alive again! ..still having a hard time looking for a fender mirror. source here is a scarce. after market re-makes doesnt have the motor for the mirror tilt.
