Nope, that was Walker's Lancia dealership. Imagine coming up the hill and bearing right at the top, then Police HQ is on your left. You just follwed the road further on, it bears left and Karl Lawson's was down there somewhere. It moved later to a bulding on the left hand side as you approach Northallerton on the Thirsk Road, just after the Thornton-Le-Beans turn off.
Bottesford 1982. Very early Datsun A10 Violet. Wonder how long that lasted.
The vehicle details for TJL 590S are: Date of Liability 31 03 1989 Date of First Registration 01 01 1978 Year of Manufacture 1978 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1397CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour WHITE
As I think DC has found, most Datsuns in these old Flickr etc pic's don't get much beyond 10 years old. I found a nice pic of a Laurel which got to 14 years old and that seemed impressive.
What's the score with showing pic's from other Flickr members? Do the rest of you just copy and paste the link? In the meantime, have a look through this chap's photos www.flickr.com/photos/27366531@N03/ as he has some good period Datsun stuff.
I like this one as it's my locale in Hull. Pic is from 1974 so the 610 would be brand new. What will excite Mr H is that I'm 99% certain it's a minicab - if you look closely you can just see the taxi sign on the roof and it's turning right into the station entrance (or at least a U-turn to get in). No doubt supplied by Jordan's.
Edit: You might have to copy and paste the above link, I can't get it to show properly as a link.
810 estate in this one:
Old Mazda! I'd love to know which dealership this came from, with it's local-to-where-I-grew-up 'GV' registration. I wonder if this is the visually similar early model (1200?) rather than the 1000/1300?
This is a fantasic shot, the 120A was sold to actress Nina Baden-Semper, and look at the Laurel coupe and Honda Z also in shot.
The 120Y HJX668N died in 1986 it would seem. It's amazing how many Datsuns came off the road around 1985-87, the scrapyards must have been heaving with them. I wish I'd visited more at the time, and had the foresight to take a few photos...
